My story of Germination

I was born into the westernised, globalised culture of London, UK.

Although there were many privileges and elements I am grateful for in my upbringing, I was raised with no understanding of rootedness, no connection to land or the cycles inner and outer, or to any of the greater mysteries of existence.

All Rites of Passage from womb to tomb were extracted from my family and community, and were delegated to the medical and social systems. I was a cultural refugee with no inner compass.

I did not witness birth or death until I trained to become a Nurse.

This calling to accompany and witness the body mysteries, Rites of Passage, and threshold spaces came at an early age, although I did not understand what I was seeking. I trained as a Children's Nurse, and was initiated into being present at births and deaths. I found myself tending to children with debilitating disease and illness, suspended in the realm between life and death. I was uninitiated myself  and utterly ill-equipped to serve these spaces or to really show-up for the people experiencing them. I embodied a lot of fears and  judgements, and would bring these unknowingly into the space.  I was unguarded to the vast spectrum of emotions and energetics that were moving through me.

Yearning for more truth and depth in my understanding of health and the body, I undertook a Masters degree to explore different frameworks of health, and was drawn to the wisdom of Indigenous cultures and earth based traditions. A seed had been planted in me, and I followed the thread. I read as much as I could about Indigenous peoples globally and their ritualised and initiatory systems of health, life and death.

My study of the body continued, and I found myself tending to children diagnosed with Autism, primarily non-verbal communicators and their families. There was as much love and joy in this work as there was pain and helplessness. My perception of the senses and somatic communication expanded immensely, and I began a process of remembering how to read and feel the body and it's energetics in a non-linear way.

After practising yoga and different dance techniques for many years, but still from a place of the western ego-mind, I  discovered somatics and non-dual tantra, known as Kashmir Shaivism. This changed everything, and allowed my investigation of the self and the world around me to have a vehicle for embodied exploration  whilst deeply rooting me in non-dual philosophy.  I am now a trained somatic and embodiment facilitator, and integrating my existence and experience through the mind-body-infinite spiral is my daily practice and life's work.

In 2020 I moved to rural Portugal and entered into deep relationship with the land. I have  studied a range of land-based practices such as permaculture, syntropic agriculture and organic food production. These nature-based practices and systems mirror back my own personal understandings gained from my own body awakening process, and the frequencies and patterns found throughout the solar system.

The Birth Arts

I am currently walking the path of the Birth Keeper and allowing threads of remembering to flow through me. I am in service to reviving and re-animating the pre-colonial Birth Arts, and to walking alongside birthing people and their families on their unique journeys through conception, pregnancy, birth and post-partum.

By honouring and tending to birth, the birthing person and babies, we honour and tend to the great mystery and threshold of life itself. Nothing is more sacred than that. I believe pleasurable and sensual birth is not only our birthrite, but the birthrite of our babies.
